Michael Lindsell

Joint Founder & Portfolio Manager

Michael co-founded Lindsell Train Limited in 2000 and is the firm’s Chief Executive. He is the portfolio manager for Japanese equity portfolios and jointly manages Global equity portfolios. Michael has over 40 years’ experience in investment management. Before founding Lindsell Train he spent seven years at GT Management, first as CIO in their Tokyo office, then in London with responsibility for all GT’s global and international funds. Following the acquisition of GT by Invesco in 1998 he was appointed head of the combined global product team. His previous experience included working at Mercury Asset Management where he was director and head of Japanese fund management in London; at Scimitar Asset Management in Hong Kong where he ran Pacific and Japanese mandates; and at Lazard Brothers as an investment manager. Michael has a degree in Zoology from the University of Bristol.

Nick Train

Joint Founder & Portfolio Manager

Nick co-founded Lindsell Train Limited in 2000 and is the firm’s Chairman. He is the portfolio manager for UK equity portfolios and jointly manages Global equity portfolios. Nick has over 40 years’ experience in investment management. Before founding Lindsell Train he was head of Global Equities at M&G Investment Management, having joined there in 1998 as a director. Previously he spent 17 years at GT Management where his final role was as Chief Investment Officer for Pan-Europe, having built long investment track records in both UK and Global equities. Nick has a degree in Modern History from the University of Oxford.

James Bullock

Portfolio Manager

James joined Lindsell Train in 2010 and has jointly managed Global equity portfolios alongside Michael and Nick since 2015. He is also the portfolio manager for the North American Equity Fund, responsible for its construction and performance. He has a Masters degree in Physics from the University of Oxford and a doctorate in Biomechanics from the University of Cambridge. He passed the Investment Management Certificate in 2012.

Madeline Wright

Deputy Portfolio Manager

Madeline joined Lindsell Train in 2012 and was promoted to Deputy Portfolio Manager in 2019. She works closely with Nick on the UK Equity Fund and assists James on the North American Equity Fund. Madeline has a degree in English Language and Literature from the University of Oxford and previously spent a semester as a visiting student at Yale University. After leaving Oxford, she studied in Japan for a year where she learnt to speak the language to a high standard. She passed the Investment Management Certificate in 2014.

Alexander Windsor-Clive

Deputy Portfolio Manager

Alexander joined Lindsell Train in 2016 and was promoted to Deputy Portfolio Manager in 2021, meaning that his insights and ideas are progressively reflected in portfolios. Alexander has a degree in History from the University of Bristol. He passed the Investment Management Certificate in 2016.

Ben van Leeuwen

Analyst & Portfolio Managers’ Assistant

Ben joined Lindsell Train in 2019 to support the investment team, building up his generalist knowledge so that he can contribute across all strategies. Ben has a degree in English Language and Literature from the University of Oxford.

Michael Lim

Director, Chief Operating Officer

Michael joined Lindsell Train as Chief Operating Officer on the firm’s establishment in 2000 and was appointed Director in 2010. He has over 30 years’ management experience in finance, securities operations and compliance. From 1987, he worked for Sun Hung Kai (London), an international broking firm, where he was a director and Head of Finance Operations and Compliance. In 1998 he moved to Tai Fook Securities London, an affiliate of the New World Group in Hong Kong, as Chief Financial Officer. Michael has a degree in Economics from the University of London and is a qualified Chartered Accountant.

Keith Wilson

Director, Head of Marketing & Client Services

Keith joined Lindsell Train in 2010 as European Sales & Client Services manager and was appointed Director in 2019. Keith has over 30 years of investment experience, including senior sales roles at both Baring Asset Management and Fortis Investments where he was responsible for managing the UK sales teams and sat on a number of marketing and product development committees. He started his career with M&G Group during the 1980s. Keith has a degree in Zoology from the University of London. He passed the Investment Management Certificate in 1995.

Jane Orr

Director, Marketing

Jane joined Lindsell Train in 2007 to lead the Marketing and Client Services area and was appointed Director in 2010. She now works part time, taking on a more consultative role across the company and is also responsible for Communications. Jane has over 30 years’ experience in the investment management field and has held a number of senior marketing positions with institutional investment management firms, including Genesis Investment Management, GMO and PDFM (now UBS Global Asset Management). Jane has a degree in Mathematics from the University of Oxford and is qualified as an Associate Member of The Society of Investment Analysts (now CFA).

Betsy Palmer

North American Marketing & Client Services

Betsy joined Lindsell Train in 2013 as the North American Marketing & Client Services representative, based in Boston. She has over 30 years’ experience of working in financial markets. Prior to joining Lindsell Train she worked at MFS (2002-2012), where she led a team of institutional product and marketing professionals. She previously worked in investment and client relationship roles at GMO, PanAgora, Colonial and Drexel Burnham Lambert. Betsy graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Mount Holyoke College, majoring in Political Science. She earned her MBA from Columbia University. She serves on the investment committee for Mount Holyoke College. She is a Trustee for the John A. Hartford Foundation, where she also sits on the investment committee.

Jessica Cameron

Institutional Marketing & Client Services

Jessica joined Lindsell Train in 2018 and now heads Institutional Marketing & Client Services outside of North America. She has over ten years’ experience in the investment management field.  Prior to joining Lindsell Train she worked at Longview Partners (2011 – 2018) within the Institutional Clients team and was also a board director for Longview’s Luxembourg funds. She started her career in 2007 at BlackRock, where she worked as a product specialist on the London based Global Equity team and before that as a member of the Global Consultant Relations team. Jessica has a degree in Modern History from the University of St Andrews. She is an Investment Committee member of the University of St Andrews Investment & Treasury Assurance Group (ITAG), which is responsible for the University’s endowment funds.

Joss Saunders

Chief Operating Officer (designate)

Joss joined Lindsell Train in 2021. He has over 18 years’ experience in investment management. Having qualified as a Chartered Accountant in Ernst & Young’s Audit division in 2001, Joss moved to Henderson Global Investors as a Senior Business Analyst and then in 2004 to Barclays Global Investors (BGI). By the time he left in 2011 he was COO for the UK institutional business of BlackRock following its takeover of BGI. He joined Baillie Gifford in 2011, first as Director of Overseas Finance, then as a Director within their Investment Operations and finally as COO and Finance Officer of their European entity. Joss has a BA honours degree in Economics with French and an MSc in Corporate & International Finance, both from Durham University. He passed the Investment Management Certificate in 2003.

Mathew McNeill

Chief Compliance Officer

Mathew joined Lindsell Train in 2020. He has over 16 years’ experience in financial services, 13 of those in dedicated compliance roles. Prior to joining Lindsell Train, he worked for three years as an independent consultant in senior compliance roles with clients including Royal London Asset Management, Quilter, M&G Prudential and Merian Global Investors. He previously worked as a Compliance Manager with Vanguard Asset Management and in the Regulatory & Operational Risk Team at Aegon Asset Management.  He started his compliance career in 2007 with Aberdeen Asset Management. Mathew has a degree in History and Politics from the University of Strathclyde.

Limara Malouangout

Compliance Manager

Limara joined Lindsell Train in 2021. She has over seven years’ experience in financial services, five of those in dedicated compliance roles. Prior to joining Lindsell Train, she worked at the multi-family office Sandaire, where she was Risk and Compliance Manager from 2018. Previously she was a compliance generalist with Dolfin Financial Asset Management, having started her compliance career at Thistle Initiatives consultancy. Limara has a degree in Criminology and Sociology from Royal Holloway University London and an MSc in Criminal Justice Policy from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).

James Alexandroff

Non-Executive Director

James joined the board of Lindsell Train Limited in 2011. James is a co-founder of Arisaig Partners, a specialist investment boutique with five offices around the world focusing on consumer businesses in emerging markets. Prior to Arisaig’s founding in 1996, he managed Asian funds for LGT in Hong Kong and for Stewart Ivory in Edinburgh. He studied law at Bristol University, qualified as a solicitor with Clifford Chance and holds a diploma in Accounting and Finance. Separately James advises the Trustee of the Perivoli Trust on its investments across all asset classes with a particular focus on early stage companies in the biomedical and life science sectors spinning out of UK universities; and has established a charity which addresses the shortcomings of nursery school education in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Julian Bartlett

Non-Executive Director

Julian joined the board of Lindsell Train Limited in 2020 and chairs the Risk Committee. Julian is a qualified chartered accountant and retired in 2017 after a 30 year career in audit and advisory services, specialising in the financial services sector. From 2007 to 2017 he was a financial services audit partner at Grant Thornton UK LLP, including six years as investment management sector leader. Julian had joined Grant Thornton on their merger with RSM Robson Rhodes where he had worked since 2001, previous to which he worked for 15 years at Deloitte. He has served as non-executive director of Invesco Pensions Limited since 2018, chairing the Audit and Risk Committee.

Kirsty Banks

Marketing and Client Services

Kirsty joined Lindsell Train in 2009 and works within the Marketing & Client Services team, focusing on client services and communications. She has over 20 years’ experience working in client services/investor relations. Prior to joining Lindsell Train she worked at Moody’s Investor Services, Cazenove and the Victoria & Albert Museum. Kirsty has a degree in Combined Studies from the University of Nottingham.

Agrima Bansal

Marketing and Client Services

Agrima joined Lindsell Train in 2019 and works within the Marketing & Client Services team, focusing on marketing and portfolio analytics. She has four years’ experience in the investment management field. Prior to joining Lindsell Train, she worked for two years at Goldman Sachs Asset Management in the Client Portfolio Management team where she specialised in Emerging Market Equities and previously at Kotak Wealth Management, where she worked as a Multi-Asset Portfolio Advisor to HNI Clients. Agrima has a degree in Economics from Lady Shri Ram College for Women, New Delhi and a MBA degree in Finance from NMIMS, Mumbai. She is a CFA Charterholder.

Lauren Jorgensen

Senior Operations Analyst

Lauren joined Lindsell Train in 2009 and works within Operations, focusing on client reporting and trade analysis. Lauren’s experience is in the areas of finance and IT and she previously held roles within Jones Lang LaSalle. She holds the CIMA certificate of Business Accounting.

Edward Smith

Senior Operations Analyst

Edward joined Lindsell Train in 2015 and works within Operations, with a broad range of responsibilities including trade analysis, client reporting and performance. Prior to joining Lindsell Train he worked at Equiniti Financial Services in the Corporate Actions department. Edward has a degree in Business Studies from Northumbria University, Newcastle Business School where he was awarded the Most Outstanding Student for Entrepreneurship. He also holds the CISI Investment Operations Certificate (IOC).

Edwin Coulter

Operations Analyst

Edwin joined Lindsell Train in 2018 and works within Operations, focusing on trade reporting and trade matching. Prior to joining Lindsell Train he worked on a temporary basis for the ex-military security company Croma Vigilant as a fire warden supervisor in Blashford Tower; this was in response to the Grenfell cladding incident. Edwin has a degree in History from the University of Greenwich.

Fiona McPhail

Office Management Executive

Fiona joined Lindsell Train in 2010. She has over 20 years’ experience in the finance industry, having worked for a number of banks as well as a trade body associated with building societies. Fiona has a degree in psychology with the Open University and has an MSc in Criminology and Criminal Psychology.
